Fickett Street
Fickett Street. What exactly is Fickett Street, or where is Fickett Street? Well, it seems as though Fickett Street is where our family came to reside once they left Mexico. They left there and decided to live on South Fickett Street. That is where they met one another and lived for quiet a while and raised their families.
How exactly do we know this information? We know from census records, newspaper clippings and various other resources from the 1920's and 1930's and 1940's from Los Angeles County, CA. Please see below screenshots and links, these are just a couple of examples. Who lived there? Perez ~Francisco Perez and Nieves lived on 1117 S. Fickett St, according to the death announcement in the newspaper. Nieves and their baby died in 1924, and the service was held at the home, at 1117 S. Fickett. ~Francisco Perez and his children in the 1930 census lived on 1117 Fickett St. Francisco was widowed. ~Joe Perez (son to Francisco and Nieves), and his wife and daughter, Sarah, lived on 1117 Fickett in 1940, according to the census record. ~John and Lena Perez also lived on 1117, but 1117 A, with their son, Frank. John and Lena rented from Joe, who owned the home. ~Anastacio Perez lived on 1117 1/2 Fickett. (Brother to Francisco Perez). On this 1940 Census, he rented this space and is widowed. Juarez ~Apolonio Juarez-1930-according to the 1930 Census, lived on 2613 Hollenbeck Ave, which is one street over from Fickett. ~Petronilo and family-according to 1940 Census, lived on 1169 Fickett ~Apolonio and Family-according to 1940 Census, lived on 2691 Fickett -It's bordering 8th street on the Census ~Pablo and family-according to 1940 Census, lived on 2691 Fickett. (Apolonio and Pablo lived together). Franco ~Maria and Antonia Franco lived on 2613 Hollenbeck Avenue, even though this is not on Fickett, according to the census, this is one street over from Fickett. Antonia is the sibling to Maria Franco, and according to the census, they are both widowed here in 1930. (Please note, as written above, they lived with Apolonio). Rangel ~Tranquilino Rangel: Tranquilino (Born 1891 Salao, Guanajuato, Mexico), is the father to Lena Rangel. He was married to Andrea Mendoza. Andrea was born about 1900 in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. ~On Tranquilino's WWI Draft Registration Card in 1917, it is recorded that he lived on 1120 Fickett Street. ~According to their marriage certificate in 1918, Tranquilino lived on 1129 S. Fickett and Andrea live on 1127 S. Fickett. *Please note: John and Lena married in 1938. They met, here, on Fickett Street. If John and Lena never met on Fickett... well.. you know the rest. |
